A look at the @mention pattern — how two characters replace model pickers, settings screens, and copy-paste.
Type @ and pick a model. That's the whole interaction — no settings screen, no dropdown buried in a sidebar, no new chat to start.
Mentions work because they're already how humans summon each other in group chats. We borrowed a gesture billions of people already know and pointed it at AI.
The subtle part: a mention carries no configuration. It says who should answer, right where the question lives, in the full context of everything said so far.
Two characters replaced our model picker, and nobody misses it.
